As more people move to the Huntsville metro, the need for more–and diverse–housing arises. That’s why multiple housing communities have sprung up over the last few years, and continue to do so.
The latest community plan approved by the Huntsville Planning Commission this week is Westmoore Landing, a 395-acre, 3,000-unit community modeled after The Village of Providence.
Zoning for Westmoore Landing in Limestone County approved

The project plan approved this week by the Huntsville Planning Commission has been in the works since the city annexed nearly 400 acres earlier this year near the interchange between I-65 and I-565.
The development is expected to include:
- Up to 3,000 homes
- Commercial areas
- Green Spaces
- Outdoor events spaces
- Playgrounds
- Retail/office spaces
The community, according to developers, will be similar to The Village of Providence, which was first developed in Huntsville in 2003. And like The Village of Providence, the development will include a mix of single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and apartments.
The project is being developed by Land Innovations and Rochford Realty & Construction Co., whose representatives say they hope to have the first residents moved in by 2027. However, the complete build-out is expected to take between 10 to 20 years.
