Apartments at Hays Farm among multiple new high-dollar building permits

Of the 35 new building permits issued this past week for Alabama construction projects exceeding $1 million, 30 of them are for North Alabama projects.

This is slightly misleading because 26 of those building permits are for The Jessam at the Park, a multi-family complex being built in Huntsville.

Here’s what we know:

New multifamily complex breaks ground in Huntsville

Apartments keep springing up all over the Huntsville and Madison areas these days as more people move into the area. And another multifamily complex is now under construction across from Grissom High School at Hays Farm.

W.R. Newman & Associates is listed as the lead contractor, and the 26 building permits issued total more than $50 million. Ground was broken on the project about two weeks ago.

Here are some details on The Jessam:

The Jessam will include a three-story 32-unit apartment building with 15,893 square feet of combined ground level restaurant and retail space.
A second building with 4,200 square feet of restaurant space and a third building with 12,331 SF of retail space.
Within the Hays Farm neighborhood surrounding The Jessam on the Park are The Market at Hays Farm, a Publix-anchored shopping center, Home Depot, Lowe’s and Sam’s Club.
Two new Class A office buildings are pre-leasing for construction on the property adjacent to The Jessam on the Park, with the first being 54,000 square feet.
Restaurant Building A (±4,200 SF – ±5,200 SF) will overlook The Park at Hays Farm.
Retail Building B will welcome shops, restaurants and high-end medical offices.
