NEW: Back Forty Beer Co. Huntsville set to launch by Summer 2023
Back Forty, one of Alabamaโs most popular breweries, has begun work in Huntsville on its latest micro-production brewery with a tap room, beer garden and restaurant.
This week, site prep began for Back Forty Beer Co. Huntsville at the intersection of Leeman Ferry Rd SW and Airport Rd SW.
โWeโve been looking at the Huntsville market for four or five years now,โ Douglas Brown, Owner & CEO of Back Forty Beer Company – Birmingham told Hville Blast. โIn fact, I was looking at Huntsville before opening our location in Birmingham. We just didn’t find the right spot at that time.โ
What to Expect
The new taproom space is designed after European beer houses, like a hofbrauhaus, where there are farm tables that allow patrons to come and go and share the space with others.ย With John Hunt Park at their doorstep, Back Forty expects the location to be a convenient venue for families and teams to get together before and after games.
And expect everything to be local.
โWe try to do everything local from our beers to the food which is as much farm to table as we can get,โ explained Brown. โOur service model โ we can take care of a lot of people, large crowds. On some Saturdays, at our Birmingham location we have as many as 2500-3000 people come through.โ
Here are details about the new location:
- 75 unique beers brewed on site annually, plus Back Forty favoritesโ Naked Pig Pale Ale, Truck Stop Honey and BamaMosa
- Elevated craft food menu
- 5 acre site
- Capacity: 400+
- Parking : 250 spaces
- Outdoor beer garden space
- Location: Intersection of Leeman Ferry Rd SW and Airport Rd SW
โWe look forward to joining Huntsville’s thriving craft beer community,โ said Brown. โThere is a great brewery scene here. A lot of good folks have paved the way, doing a lot of good stuff. Weโre looking forward to being part of it.โ
Opening Summer 2023
For the next few months Back Forty Beer Co. Huntsville will be preparing the site for construction. By October, the brewery expects to pour concrete and hold a ground-breaking event. If all goes according to plan, Rocket Cityโs newest brewery is scheduled to start pouring drafts and serving meals by the Summer of 2023.
