When you choose to explore the city on a bike, you see everything from a new perspective. With the Blue Bike program from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, Decatur now has access to 15 bikes at three stations.

In a news release from the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, several city leaders expressed their excitement for the new program.

“The possibilities for what a bicycle tourism destination can be are endless. We can’t wait for guests and locals to experience the amazing trails we have to offer such as the Point Mallard Trails and the Dr. Bill Sims Bike Trail. When guests are on vacation, they will be taking time to focus on their health, slowing down, and connecting with the true experiences here in Decatur and creating memories they will never forget.”

Danielle Gibson, President & CEO, Decatur-Morgan County Tourism

Not only are you helping the environment by biking, but there are several personal benefits as well. While you coast through the city, you’ll boost your mental health and get a fun exercise in.

“Decatur has a unique mix of outdoor offerings: the Tennessee River, Point Mallard Park, Wheeler Wildlife Refuge, and the Dr. Bill Sims Bike Trail. The bike share program will allow riders to experience our downtown and parks in a fun way. We appreciate Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama for their generous support of this program for the Decatur community.”

Kelly Thomas, Executive Director, Decatur Downtown Redevelopment Authority

For locals and tourists alike, this program allows for everybody to see the city in a new light. The Decatur Downtown Redevelopment Authority, Decatur-Morgan County Tourism and Tandem Mobility teamed up with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama to bring this special program to life.
