From the file of things that make life a little more delightful: There’s a place in North Alabama where “Snoop Dogg” will walk you through washing your dog. Well, almost!

You can pick seven celebrity-style voices to talk you through the tech at a new, 24-hour self-service dog wash in Priceville.

Read on to learn more about this local business and how to visit with your pup.

Meet the family behind Express Pet Wash

Priceville residents Bobby and Paula Martin and their teen granddaughter, Mallory, opened Express Pet Wash on Jan. 4, 2025.

The business is located off Highway 67 South near the intersection of North Bethel Road and less than a mile southeast of Interstate 65.

Bobby, an overnight shuttle driver for Averitt Express and a volunteer firefighter and medical responder, says he started the business with his family to build future retirement income.

The Martins came up with the idea after visiting other self-wash stations with their poodles. They wanted to offer a clean and easily accessible wash with reliable equipment in their area.

The Martins saw an opportunity in a former car wash building. The dog wash space now occupies what used to be the car wash equipment room.

Wash your dog with a ‘celebrity’

Now for the fun part: You get to pick a celebrity voice (well, an impersonator) to guide you through the wash. The Martins rotate the voices every few weeks.

They also did their homework before choosing the right self-wash machine, landing on this one for the fun voice feature. Designed in the Netherlands, the machine weighs 750 pounds. With all the extra equipment, shipping came in at a hefty 1,100 pounds!

“We like the thought that someone could come in here with their children to wash their dog, and then have an enjoyable experience with a ‘celebrity’ talking them through it.”
Bobby Martin

Our favorites were voices impersonating Jack Sparrow and Jack Nicholson, but maybe we’re biased toward fellow Jacks (my pup is Disco Jack).

But what about the wash itself?

I have three pups, so self-washing options are a huge help in my household. Here are the things that stood out to me on the occasions I visited this dog wash in Priceville:

  • A clean and organized space with one high-tech dog wash station.
  • You can lock the door behind you to secure your time + keep your pup contained.
  • A large glass window allows other customers to see when the space is occupied.
  • Washes usually take 15 minutes or less.
  • You can sanitize the machine yourself.

3 easy ways to pay + earn credits

The automated payment is convenient and also includes an app option. Here are the details:

  • The wash costs a dollar per minute with a $15 minimum to start the process.
  • Use the touchscreen to pause between settings to help preserve your time.
  • Add minutes as you go if needed.
  • Pay by cash or card, or scan a QR code to get the Monyx app + load it with credits.

BONUS: If you use the same credit or debit card when you visit OR use the Monyx app, the system will recognize that and reward you with a free 15-minute wash after every fourth 15-minute visit.

A community-focused business

Good clean fun isn’t just a phrase at this dog wash in Priceville. The Martin family has created a useful service for pet owners with 24-hour accessibility. IYKYK this is a lifesaver if your pup just rolled in mud or you work non-traditional hours.

“Business has been awesome. It’s been a really good community for this to start up in. Everybody has been very good at keeping things clean and helping with that.”
Bobby Martin
