If you’re headed to a game at the Wilson Morgan Park ballfields, swing by this sweet little spot before you commit to a prime parking spot and don’t want to leave. Or make the stroll over; it’s close enough—just watch for traffic.

Regardless of your park plans, this new donut shop is a destination in itself, as many online reviewers have already attested since its opening in early June 2026. It has excellent customer reviews for its apple fritters, traditional donuts, cake donuts, kolaches and several more types of savory options like breakfast sandwiches on fluffy croissants.

This note is not about a new business but a new location for a longtime one: Tennessee Valley Pecan Company just moved in with Apple Lane Farms on the Beltline in early June.

The pecan company has been around since 1942, primarily as a wholesaler. The company opened a retail store over a decade ago and has moved around several downtown spots since.

After closing its retail store for several months from late 2024 into 2025, the company officially relaunched under new owners Tim and Libby Britt in August of last year. They shifted the business model to focus almost exclusively on the wholesale side while selling some products through local retailers and pop-ups.

For now, the pecan company continues to focus on its wholesale operations and has limited retail items available. Come October, it will offer a fully stocked shop through January to meet holiday demand.

Apple Lane Farms has served its customers with hams, overstuffed sandwiches and decadent desserts like cobblers and banana pudding for almost 30 years, in this location for the past several.

The two businesses share branding on the doors and inside the dining area, and each has a dedicated space in the back for operations.

In early June, the owners of the local favorite Taqueria El Palomino drive-thru and walk-up restaurant on Sixth Avenue announced that they’d finally found the perfect place for a second location.

Soon after, they begin remodeling the former Ard’s Seafood building near Plumtree Center on the Beltline to become El Palomino No. 2 Authentic Cocina.

Miguel Palomino tells us the family hopes to open the restaurant in August, with hours likely to be 9AM-9PM weekdays, with extended hours to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

The menu will focus strongly on authentic street tacos, and the physical space will emphasize an open-kitchen format so customers can watch their food being prepared.

We’ll keep you posted on an opening date!
