New elementary school approved for construction in Limestone county

On Wednesday, the Madison City School Board approved a $49 million construction bid to start building a new elementary school in Limestone county.
This new school will be the first of Madison City’s to be built in Limestone county. According to Madison City Schools Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols, 27% of their students as a whole live in the Limestone County side of the district, surely a main concern when making the plans for the school.
This new addition is a timely project when looking at the growth Madison city has been experiencing recently, as well as their acclaimed school system across Alabama. Part of this growth is due to their increasing in new subdivisions, which in-turn is causing a lot of the city schools to become more and more crowded.
School location and time of opening
The new elementary school is set to be built off of Hardiman Rd, which is in the new Madison branch subdivision and will open in the Fall of 2026.
Although it currently does not have a name, the school board is allowing parents to be able to vote on it which will take place farther down the line of the construction process.
