New EV charging stations open in Scottsboro
Reading time: 2 minutes
Drivers of electric vehicles have a new recharging option in North Alabama, as two new EV charging stations opened this week in Scottsboro.
The Scottsboro Electric Power Board cut the ribbon on the new charging stations Nov. 29, a project made possible through a partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and Seven States Power Corp.
New charging stations are much-needed in the area
The Scottsboro Electric Power Board installed two fast chargers at its office on Willow Street, part of the regional Fast Charge Network.
TVA and other funding partners such as state agencies are working together to provide funding for fast charger development. TVA officials say they envision a fast charging network across designated interstates and major highway corridors of the multi-state TVA service territory.
EV drivers would be able to rely on this network to confidently travel throughout the region.
“TVA is excited to partner with local power companies like Scottsboro Electric Power Board and ADECA to invest in charging infrastructure across the Tennessee Valley region. These investments allow TVA to save drivers money and attract good jobs and tourism – all powered by electricity from TVA and your local power company.”
Jared Mitchem, TVA regional vice president
