A new DC fast-charging facility, also known as a DCFCs, opened up for electric vehicles (EVs) in downtown Huntsville.

Where are these fast-charging stations coming from?

This facility is part of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s initiative to have a fast-charging stations within every 50 miles of each other.

The charging station is located within the Publix parking garage off of Pelham Ave and was built to accommodate the recent uptick in EVs around town.

The charging facility has stations for up to four vehicles at a time, and is capable of charging them to 80% within one hour.

“Huntsville and Madison County have seen significant growth in the number of EVs in recent years. We appreciate our partnership with Huntsville Utilities, TVA, and all those involved to bring more rapid charging infrastructure to our community.”

More fast-charging stations means more room for EVs, which can be exciting considering their positive effect on our roads and atmosphere. Huntsville is becoming more friendly to EVs, so expect to see more of them on the road and in the city.
