New fire station opens in West Huntsville
Reading time: 2 minutes
Huntsville Fire + Rescue (HFR) recently opened a new station in the West side of the city in response to the area’s rapid and consistent growth. Read more about its location and features below.
HFR Station 20
Fire Station 20 is the second station established in Limestone county, located at 13175 Burgreen Rd, Madison. This area is reportedly one of the fastest growing sections in Huntsville, which was the main incentive behind its construction.
Not only will this station allow HFR to better and more efficiently service the area, but it will also reduce house insurance rates in the area by lowering its Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating to 1.
This rating is determined by how well a certain fire department is able to service its community. The higher the ISO rating, the more residents would have to pay for house insurance.
What’s inside?
This new 6,858 square-foot station is fortified with the captain’s office, 2 captain bedrooms, 7 private bedrooms, kitchen, dayroom, dining room, exercise room, a turnout gear room as well as a laundry room.
It makes a great addition to the area and provides an excellent location for HFD to continue making an impact.
“The men and women of Huntsville Fire & Rescue (HFR) are heroes who protect lives and property. We are excited to open the new fire station and create a more efficient department that can better serve residents and businesses in northwest Huntsville.”
Tommy Battle, Mayor of Huntsville
