NEW: Flash flood watch issued for North Alabama

A flash flood watch has been issued across North Alabama for this afternoon through evening by the National Weather Service. It includes the following counties: Madison, Limestone, Morgan, Lawrence, Lauderdale, Colbert, Cullman, Jackson, Marshall and DeKalb.

Rain will continue to move through the Tennessee Valley into the weekend.
Forecasts estimate 3 inches of rain will impact the Huntsville area due to this storm system.
What precautions you should take for a flash flood
Flash floods occur when creeks and other bodies of water overflow. This can cause hazardous road conditions due to flooded roadways.
In the event of a flooded roadway, take a different route.
