Huntsville City Football Club (HCFC) has just brought on a new head coach. Read more to find out who he is, where he came from and what he’ll bring to the table this season.

Who is the new head coach

Chris O’Neal served as Inter Miami U-17 (under 17 years old) coach, and was just announced by the HCFC as their new head coach.

The HCFC has experienced a lot of changes this year, with their two previous head coaches leaving the team only three months apart.

The club is optimistic about O’Neal’s new role, and their fans should be too.

“We’re delighted to bring Chris in as the new Head Coach of Huntsville City FC. He brings a proven track record of developing top prospects across US Soccer and we look forward to seeing him work with our talented group of players here in Huntsville.”

Matt Cairnes, Huntsville City FC Director of Soccer Operations

O’Neal’s coaching history

O’Neal has over 5 years of coaching experience with U-15 and U-17 teams. He also earned his Elite Formation Coaching License while previously in Kansas City.

Something different about O’Neal from the previous coaches is that he is not a stranger to Alabama. Not only did he serve as the Team Adidas Director of the Vestavia Hills Soccer Club, but he also played at UAB for three seasons between 2001 and 2003.

“We have a fantastic group of players with immense potential to develop into top-tier prospects, a dedicated staff I’m eager to collaborate with and a vibrant city that consistently shows its unwavering passion for this team. I’m looking forward to a future marked by growth, success and community pride.”
