The University of Alabama in Huntsville is expected to name the successor of outgoing president Dr. Charles Karr next week. The University posted on social media that the new president announcement will come Wednesday, May 6.
The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting to consider the appointment of the school’s 11th president.
The meeting will be held in the Courtyard of UAH’s Altenkirch Lawn. A welcome reception will take place immediately following the meeting in the Student Services Building main lobby.
New president will follow Dr. Karr’s successful tenure

- Broke ground on the Raymond B. Jones Engineering Building
- Slated renovations for the Bevill Center into an enhanced Center for Cybersecurity Research, Education and Advanced Training
- Recruited students globally
- Grew the research capabilities of UAH
- Secured funding to develop Executive Plaza
- Established first-of-its-kind Air Force/Space Force ROTC operating location
