New Rock the South location in Decatur ready for development

City leaders and Rock the South festival officials broke ground yesterday on the new site for the 3-day festival in Decatur. The 150-acre site will host the festival June 11-13, which moved from Cullman to Decatur this year.

Rock the South will take place at the Fields of Decatur, with over 150 acres of land just off Gordon Terry Parkway on the west side of Decatur. The extra space is expected to provide expanded campgrounds + parking as well as the new Fan Zone with a second stage.
The festival, at its peak, has attracted more than 100,000 people over the course of the weekend, averaging nearly 35,000 people per day.
The festival is expected to generate between $10 million and $20 million for Decatur’s economy.
Jason Aldean, Riley Green and Zach Top will be the headliners of the event. Some other big names include:
