$125K grant brings new spay/neuter clinic to Limestone County

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has awarded a $125K grant to Partnership for Animals in Athens/Limestone (PAALS), which will go toward a new clinic offering low-cost spay/neutering services.
The $125K will fund the renovation of an already leased building, as well as purchasing the needed supplies to operate the facility.
The clinic will offer its services at a flat rate, based upon the size and sex of the animal. This is designed to provide affordable care to everyone, regardless of income.
“We currently don’t have one (low-cost clinic) and we would like to help out individuals who can’t afford to spay or neuter their pet with their regular vet due to the high expense and that will also cut down on the overpopulation and crowding of shelters and neglected animals.”

The clinic is expected to be open within the next six months.
