Reading time: 2 minutes
While temperatures have been climbing across many states for years, this November in Alabama was especially warm.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), November was Huntsville’s hottest on record with an average monthly temperature of 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit above its norm.
Further, Huntsville’s last 11 months have been the highest temperatures in any 11-month span in NOAA’s recorded history.
Additionally, the state of Alabama was 8.1 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than normal temperatures this November, making it the state’s hottest November on record.
However, the past 11 months have only seen Alabama’s third highest temperatures in any 11-month span according to NOAA.
While Huntsville and Alabama as a whole experienced higher-than-normal November temperatures, NOAA reported similar findings across the country.
Three other states saw their highest November temperatures on record as well. An additional 25 states experienced top-10 numbers for November temperatures.
The NOAA has been recording monthly temperatures nationwide for over 130 years, marking this data as quite significant in not only Alabama’s but also the nation’s climate history.
