Norfolk Southern begins several weeks of railroad crossing repairs in Madison County

This week, Norfolk Southern began repairs on railroad crossings throughout Madison County. These repairs will take place over the next several weeks, with each repair taking approximately 24 hours to complete.
Here’s what to know:
Railroad crossing repairs in Madison County

Temporary traffic control will be in place at each crossing, and detour routes will be clearly marked. Contractors for Norfolk Southern will also notify the impacted residents at least 24 hours in advance of any closure.
Crossings scheduled for repair:
- City of Huntsville: Moores Mill Road between U.S. 72 and Stanwood Boulevard
- City of Huntsville: Oakwood Avenue between Meridian Street and I-565 ramps
- City of Huntsville: Meridian Street between Pratt Avenue and Beirne Avenue
- City of Huntsville: Pratt Avenue between Washington Street and Meridian Street
- City of Huntsville: Cleveland Avenue between Church Street and Meridian Street
- City of Huntsville: Holmes Avenue between Pulaski Pike and Woodson Street
- City of Huntsville: Slaughter Road between Alabama Highway 20/Madison Boulevard and Old Madison Pike
- City of Huntsville: Bibb Garrett Road between Airport Road and Mooresville Road
- Town of Gurley: Gurley Pike between Section Line Road and Gate Street
- Madison County: Stone Drive between U.S. 72 and Hayes Drive
- Madison County: Ryland Pike between Jordan Road and Dug Hill Road
Work schedules may shift due to train traffic or weather, and updates from Norfolk Southern will be shared if adjustments are required.
