The River Clay Fine Arts Festival is coming off a big ‘Event of the Year’ award from the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association last month as it marks its 10th anniversary this year.

See works on canvas, clay, metal, precious stones and more by more than 60 artists from around the region at this juried event on the City Hall lawn downtown.

The weekend kicks off with River Clay Rendezvous, a preview and patrons’ party held on the Friday before the art market opens to the public on Saturday and Sunday.

Uncorked Wine Fest, Saturday, Oct. 25

Decatur will host its first wine festival, Uncorked 2025, on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25 at the Morgan County/Decatur Farmers Market pavilion.

The event features over 60 wines to sample (plus discounts on bottle or case purchases) light hors d’oeuvres and live music from Neon Avenue and Gray Cauthen. This event ticket also includes a weekend pass to River Clay Fine Arts Festival.

A special VIP dinner experience is also being offered on the Friday night before the festival, featuring a four-course dinner prepared by four North Alabama chefs and music by Cauthen. Guests can opt to do just the dinner, just the festival or combine both over two days. Tickets to these events also include a weekend pass to River Clay Fine Arts Festival.

Organizer Casey Hughes of Maverick Events, who produced the well-attended Derby Down Bank soapbox race in June, says these are just a couple of many more new concepts to come for the community. (Keep reading for another one soon!)

“We’re trying to continue to build our community and engagement and to appeal as far across the board as we can. We’re going to keep pumping out different and unique events that we are not as accustomed to in the Decatur area, just to bring some variety.”

Another first-time fall event from Maverick Events is set for Sunday, Oct. 26, also at the Morgan County/Decatur Farmers Market Pavilion. And this one, a community pumpkin carving, is FREE for kids!

Pre-registration is required so the organizers can ensure the provided pumpkin carving spots are filled and to secure participants’ waivers.

Supervised kids (under age 18) are invited to carve creations, participate in a costume contest and enjoy family time with neighbors. Carving kits and pumpkins will be provided to kids, and community members are encouraged to sponsor a pumpkin.
