The new year is a great time to pick up a brand new hobby and fill in your free time with some wholesome creativity. Fortunately, the Rocket City is filled with different opportunities for you to get in touch with your interests and learn a new hobby.

1. Sullivan Pottery

Whether your experience is at a beginner or advanced level, Sullivan Pottery has classes for everyone. Every wheel throwing class meets once a week — you can also sign your kids up for a Kid’s Handbuilding Class or test your skills in a one-time Try It! Wheel Class.

2. Rafael’s Table

Inspire your inner chef with both private and public cooking classes taught by Rafael’s Table! Upcoming classes include instruction in crafting artisan egg pasta, pan-seared ricotta gnocchi with herbed butter and more. There is also a cookie decorating class coming up inspired by London culture, titled “Dine Like a Royal: Her Royal Highness.”

3. The Cigar Box Guitar Store

The Cigar Box Guitar Store is a popular destination at Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment, where you might recall passing by the music-filled shop on a busy day. Sign up for a group class that’ll come to you or a private class that’ll take place at the store itself. Feel free to build your own at home with their E-Z Build Kit, too!

4. Vertical House Records

Believe it or not, record collecting is still a buzzing hobby for all generations today. One of our favorite spots in Huntsville to find a wide array of genres is at Vertical House Records.
