Popular watering hole Humphrey’s Bar + Grill closed for remodeling
Reading time: 2 minutes
One of Huntsville’s long-standing downtown restaurants, Humphrey’s Bar & Grill, has been closed for most of October, but all indications are that the popular restaurant and music venue will re-open eventually.
No official word has come from the owners of the business, but we do know that the bar and grill is “closed for remodeling.” At least that’s what the sign says.
What we know about Humphrey’s
As the sign says in front of the restaurant, “Something is coming…We will keep you updated.”
Attempts to reach ownership at the bar for an elaboration have been unsuccessful, but the faithful customer base of the bar and grill have been getting impatient on social media outlets, with rumors swirling over what caused the temporary closing — or if the closing is actually temporary — and when the venue will re-open.
Thus far, no official word has come from the restaurant’s management that would indicate when the business will re-open or what the “something” is that’s coming.
A Huntsville staple
Located at 101 Washington Street downtown, Humphrey’s has been a mainstay in the city’s bar and restaurant scene for years.
Humphrey’s opened in 2002 — under the ownership of HudsonAlpha co-founder Jim Hudson — occupying the space that once housed Bubba’s, another popular music venue.
The new ownership group, which purchased the business in March of this year, consists of Andy Howery, Bill Chapman, David Milly and Tim Giraldin.
When we receive information on the re-opening of Humphrey’s we will publish it. Until then, let’s just hope it opens soon.
