New president announced for Helen Keller Hospital + Red Bay Hospital

Two hospitals in the Shoals have a new president. The Huntsville Hospital System announced that Jeremy Gray has been tapped to lead Red Bay Hospital in Red Bay and Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield.

He will begin his new role Monday, August 3, succeeding Kyle Buchanan, who was named president of Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville earlier this year.

Gray brings more than 25 years of health care experience, including more than 15 years in executive leadership roles across hospitals, ambulatory services and regional health care operations. 

He recently led hospital operations at St. Thomas Hospital Midtown in Middle Tennessee and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Georgia and South Carolina for United Surgical Partners International.

Here are few tidbits about Gray:

  • Earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of South Alabama and a Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham
  • Began his health care career as a physical therapist at UAB Hospital before moving into hospital administration
  • Served as COO for Chippenham Medical Center in Virginia
  • Served as CEO at Community Health Systems in Tennessee

Gray will report to Sam Dean, executive vice president of regional hospital operations for HH Health, and will work closely with the Helen Keller Hospital Board of Trustees and senior leadership team.
