Reading time: 3 minutes

One of the best days of the year for audiophiles and vinyl collectors: Record Store Day.
I stopped by Vertical House Records at Lowe Mill to chat with the owner, Andy, and he says he expects tomorrow to be their biggest Record Store Day yet thanks to high-demand RSD releases including Taylor Swift and Brittany Howard. Keep reading for pro tips, top releases and a look at the new Vinyl Record Trail!
What is Record Store Day?
If you have a record player, you are likely a fan of Record Store Day (like me). If not, let me catch you up to speed:
Record Store Day is a celebration of the staff, customers and artists of independent record stores across the country and internationally. A tradition since 2008, Record Store Day features exclusive pressings of new, remastered or repackaged music from hundreds of artists.
Vertical House remains the only Huntsville record shop to carry RSD pressings, bringing in double their regular foot traffic with collectors from across North AL.
Pro tips + top picks from Vertical House owner, Andy

What to expect
Have exclusive pressings high on your wishlist? Make sure to arrive early!
Here’s how it works:
- The store is open 12-5PM on Saturday, April 12
- Entry and records are first come, first serve
- The line starts outside Vertical House (Railroad Room #9)
- Only five to ten people will be allowed in at a time
- You can only buy one copy of each title
“There’s a lot of good releases this year, so I’m thinking there will be a pretty good line—maybe one of the bigger lines of any of the Record Store Days.”
Andy, Owner of Vertical House Records
If you want to check it out but aren’t rushing for a specific pressing, Andy says the line should dissipate by around 1-2PM.
Most in-demand pressings
We asked Andy what records he anticipates will be the most in-demand:
- Taylor Swift: Fortnight 7″
- Charli XCX: Guess featuring Billie Eilish
- Gorillaz: Demon Days Live from the Apollo Theater
- Gracie Abrams: Live From Radio City Music Hall
- Brittany Howard (Athens, AL native!): Live From Austin City Limits
- Post Malone: Post Malone Tribute to Nirvana

If you’re eyeing any of these, be one of the first people there!
“We definitely have limited copies, and some we only have a handful in stock. So I expect a lot of it to sell out within the first half of the day.”
Andy, Owner of Vertical House Records
