One of Huntsville’s largest industrial parks is filled to capacity, which may not seem like news unless you consider that SouthPoint Business Park includes around 2 million square feet of space.

The project has come a long way since contractors broke ground in 2020.

The SouthPoint Business Park, in Limestone County but annexed by Huntsville, has grown to 12 buildings, and tenants in the park include automotive suppliers, defense contractors, building materials, marine and beverage distribution.

SouthPoint is located adjacent to both the I-65 and 1-565. This location provides excellent access to markets from Nashville and Louisville to the north and Birmingham and Montgomery to the south. This corridor is highly favored by companies that serve the automotive market.

“Having a balanced mix of industries in the park has provided a great deal of stability to the labor market in the region. This park mirrors the regional growth we have seen over the last ten years that have included major projects by Defense Contractors, Automotive Suppliers, and numerous support industries that have fueled the record growth of the entire North Alabama region.”

Brooks Kracke, President and CEO of the North Alabama Industrial Development Association

A long way since groundbreaking

When ground was broken on the initial project in 2020, the developers, the Hollingsworth Group, did expect that expansion and growth would follow, but perhaps didn’t realize how quickly that would come. But company leaders did know that North Alabama is a great place for growth.

“We are very bullish on the North Alabama market. We have successfully grown our business on the belief that American manufacturing will continue to prosper, and the Southeastern United States will lead this growth.”

Joe Hollingsworth, CEO of The Hollingsworth Group

The Hollingsworth Group is the largest non-urban Industrial Real Estate developer and construction firm in the Southeastern United States with 125 tenants, 18 million square feet of industrial space, spread over 17 states.
