Just in time for the summer season, Isom’s Orchard officially rolled up the garage doors for their reopening yesterday, May 28.

The popular market has been under construction since December 2024, and the community (and myself!) are excited to see the revamped reveal. While the original stand will be missed, the new building is a promise from the newest Isom generation to continue the family legacy for years to come.

This beautiful barn was just studs and construction when we last updated you in March. If you’ve driven past the market on 72, you’ve likely noticed some big changes!

The new renovations will make for a better customer experience while honoring the original set-up, including:

  • Rustic barn aesthetic (with new + original signage)
  • Bigger parking lot
  • More check-out lines
  • New apple cider slushee wall
  • Same open-air feel with garage doors (making the market safer from the elements)
  • Donut-making room
  • Family restrooms
  • View of the apple cleaning process
  • Renovated kids play area (coming soon)
  • Swings under the pavilion (coming soon)

Growing with the community + the next generation

The original market building, built by Joe Isom in 1974, stood for 50 years. To keep up with the growing community, the Isom family decided it was time for a fresh look, fulfilling a family dream.

Owner Marlene Isom shared that as she and her husband near retirement, her three children stepped up to continue running the family orchard.

“For the last 50 years, this building has been a dream in our head.

We could’ve survived our last years with the original building if the orchard was going to close, but our kids said no, we want to carry it on.

This new market building sets up our next generation, we hope for another 50 years.”

Marlene and her husband are excited to pass down the orchard to their children (Mary Alice, Kent and Lee) who now work at Isom’s. Fun fact: if you’ve had their delectable strawberry donuts, they were made by Mary Alice!

“We’re just so excited for the reopening. We cried and cried and cried at first, and now it’s just joy. And the community seems really excited about it, too.”
