Thanksgiving 2025: Here’s what’s open + closed in the Rocket City

This is Thanksgiving week, and while many of you may have already taken off work, most folks in and around Huntsville are definitely off this Thursday (and possibly Friday).
Here’s what you can expect to be be open and closed this week in the Huntsville area:
What’s open for Thanksgiving

We reported earlier this month on restaurants that are serving Thanksgiving lunch and dinner in and around town. But most restaurants will be closed Thursday or operating on special holiday hours.
There are only a handful of stores open for the holiday, and even those stores that are open will likely have special holiday hours. Here is what’s open for Thanksgiving Day:

- CVS
- Kroger (closes at 4PM)
- Whole Foods (7AM-1PM)
- Starbucks
- Dollar General
- Family Dollar
- Five Below (opens at 6PM)
- Bass Pro Shop (closes at 6PM)
What’s closed on Thanksgiving
