What is The Bakingtist?

Look at those beauties. (The Bakingtist / Facebook)

The Bakingtist makes all kinds of baked goods—both sweet and savory. Here’s just some of their offerings.

  • Sourdough
  • Focaccia
  • Pastries (like stuffed cruffins)
  • Cookies that are ginormous and oh-so-delicious

You may have seen them at markets around Huntsville, selling their out-of-this-world Groundbreaker cookies and more. But that’s not all that The Bakingtist does. They’re on a mission to share the science of baking with the community in a fun way.

“I am very excited to encourage people to rethink how science has been portrayed for many years in media…through something we all love: baked goods. Science, simply, is the beautiful pursuit of discovery.”

Heidi Kizer, owner of The Bakingtist

What started out as a tiny apartment bakery six years ago is now preparing to open its first storefront in Downtown Huntsville. But they need your help!

The Bakingtist just launched a Kickstarter campaign to help them successfully open the bakery in late fall or early November. They’re looking to raise $35,000 before November 8, and every little bit helps bring their tasty science to Downtown Huntsville.
