As a full-time creative in the midst of a tech city, I have the same question many may have: How is AI going to impact my job in the future? Spoiler alert: it’s not something to fear, according to one local expert.

We spoke with Dr. Jack Francis, a Huntsville local who has made AI his full-time career, now serving as the AI Solutions Director at Davidson Technologies Inc. Keep reading to hear his expertise on AI, how it may actually help you excel in your career and about the huge AI symposium coming up teaching tangible skills you can implement in the workplace.

AI is here to stay, and Dr. Francis calls it one of the most accessible yet robust tools available. It’s replaced Google for him, serving as “a smarter partner in problem solving.” His advice for beginners is to have fun with it, use trial and error and explore the vast capabilities of the technology.

Here is how he sees AI used the most in Huntsville:

  • Improving workflow + productivity
  • Content generation
  • Coding
  • Emails
  • Market + competitor research
  • Task analysis

I asked him a question he’s heard many times before: Should we fear AI taking our jobs? What he said really stuck with me, and was my key takeaway from our conversation:

“If you learn AI and you understand how to use it in your current role, you become much more attractive as a future employee going forward.

If you’re able to lean in and learn the tools, which you’ll be able to learn about at the AI Symposium, I think that makes you safer in the future.”
