Our Hville Blast audience survey results are now in with 718 responses

At the beginning of the summer, we asked our audience to take part in a survey so that we can best understand our audience and know what content best serves you.

With 718 of you giving us feedback, we were able to get a more in-depth view of who our audience is.

We asked you where you live, who you live with and who you are. Those demographic questions certainly help us identify who is consuming our content. As well, we wanted to know how you use our content, your shopping habits, your salary range and more.

What we found is that our audience is made up of a pretty diverse group of readers and viewers with varying backgrounds.

Let’s have a look:

Age: Our largest age demographic is 30-50 yrs

We found that folks in their 20s and 30s make up a large chunk of our audience, but not far behind are those in their 60s. Let’s break it down:

  • 18-29: 20.3%
  • 30-49: 35.1%
  • 50s: 15.5%
  • 60+: 29.1%

Education: More than 70% of you are college graduates

When asked the education level of our audience, we were not surprised to find that nearly half of our audience has bachelors degrees. Here’s how you answered:

  • Bachelors degrees: 41.4%
  • Post grad degrees: 27.2%
  • Some college: 24.9%
  • High school: 6.4%

Also, 27% of you said you were interested in furthering your education, including certifications and advanced degrees.

Income: 48% of you make more than $100K

As far as household income is concerned, the majority of our audience apparently has a household income range between $50,000 and $150,000 per year. This is how it breaks down:

  • Under $100K: 51.9%
  • $100K-$200K: 37.9%
  • Over $200K: 10.2%

Most of y’all have been here 10+ years

We asked how long you have lived here in the Rocket City, and more than half of you said you’ve lived here fore 10 years or longer. Here’s a more detailed look at how long our audience has lived here:

  • More than 10 years: 54%
  • Less than 10 years: 42.6%
  • Currently relocating: 3.4%

Our audience spans the Huntsville metro and beyond:

  • Huntsville: 53.5%
  • Madison: 18.9%
  • Athens: 3.4%
  • Decatur: 1.2%
  • Other: 23%

More than 65% of you are homeowners

The majority of our audience consists of homeowners—66.2% to be exact—and 13.9% of you said you were going to do a home remodel or major home improvement project in the next 12 months. Also, 12.8% said you were about to purchase home furnishings or redesign your homes.

92% of you are ready to travel

When asked about some future plans you may have, 92% of y’all said you were planning on traveling in the next 12 months, with Nashville, the Florida panhandle, Alabama beaches and Birmingham being the most popular nearby destinations, but 18% of those who responded said they were flying to their travel destinations.

Y’all support local business

We asked how important support of local businesses and nonprofits is to you, and the responses show it is for most of you. Our survey indicates that 57.9% of you consider supporting local business and nonprofits as “very important,” while another 31.9% of you say it is “important.”

Also, 96.7% of y’all said when we feature local businesses, nonprofits and destinations, it makes you feel more connected to what’s happening in our community. And, 27.3% of y’all said you frequently take action when you see a local business featured on Hville Blast and 64.2% said you occasionally do.

We offer a variety of information, of course. That includes local news, traffic, entertainment, events and more. So we wanted to know what our audience uses the most.

Events and local community happenings seem to be the most popular features of our content, but you’ll see our audience takes advantage of several aspects of our content.

We have multiple ways to access our content, whether it’s via FacebookTikTokYouTube, LinkedInInstagram, or through our free daily newsletter.

According to our survey, our Instagram and Facebook accounts—along with our newsletter—are the most popular methods to access our content.

Because we have a myriad of ways to access us, 55% of you use more than one outlet to access our content.
