As an avid concert goer who’s been to over 15 concert venues across the Southeast, I can proudly say my personal favorite concert experiences are at The Orion Amphitheater here in Huntsville. Not to mention, it’s officially one of the top 10 amphitheaters in the world.
The Orion also has the nicest staff around, who shared their insider tips on how you can have the best show experience, too 👇
Orion staff’s show day hacks:
1. Get your tickets at the Orion box office (+ skip the fees) 🎟️

Did you know it’s cheaper to purchase tickets at the box office than online?
Visit the North Box Office to skip some of the online fees, plus get expert tips from staff.
“Buying tickets in-person is the way to go! Get direct, face-to-face support from our expert team.
Whether you want to rock out in the pit or chill near Sky Bar, we’re here to help you find the perfect seat.”
Brittney, Box Office Manager
- Box Office Hours: Tuesday-Friday 9AM-5PM, Saturday-Sunday 10AM-3PM
- 💳 The Orion is a cashless venue
- Where: 703 Amphitheater Dr NW, Huntsville, AL 35805
2. Use the NEW merch check-in ✅

I love to beeline straight to the merch booth on show days to snag my band tee and poster early, but don’t love carrying around my haul all night. Good news—The Orion just introduced merch lockers 👇
“Shop all the tour and Orion merchandise stands inside Gate B, then drop off your purchases at our merch check-in and enjoy the show hands-free.
For just $10, we’ll keep your items safe and send you home with an Orion-branded sustainable bag.”
Kamerra, Assistant General Manager
3. Know where the best photo-opps are 📸

If you didn’t take the perfect concert photo, did it even happen? (The Orion Amphitheater)
Here are the best photo angles in the house, according to The Orion’s marketing team:
- Signature arches 📸 Stand under Fez BeGaetz’s “Bloom” sculpture in Apollo South to get The Orion’s signature arches in the background.
- Pop of color 📸 Located right inside Gate D, Fow Wow’s new Huntsville-centric mural is great backdrop on the way to your seat.
- Stage backdrop 📸 Head up to Sky Bar for the best view in the house—bonus points if you get the artist on stage in the background!
I also suggest posing with a Shareable Pineapple from Teal Monkey or standing in the picnic areas in front of Jeff & Blues or the “Earth Bather” sculpture.
Bonus: Keep your eye out for on-theme photo-opps—my favorite was the song lyric street signs at the Lana Del Rey show.

4. Save on drinks with a draft beer souvenir cup + empty water bottle 🍻

Beer lovers, this one is for you 🍻
“If you’re a draft beer fan, visit the concourse bars on the second floor, where you can purchase a 24oz stainless steel Orion-branded Steelys souvenir cup!
Bring it back all season long for refills at $1 less than regular pours.
That’s more beer for less!”
Carter, Food + Bev Manager
🚰 Bonus: Bring an empty 32oz water bottle to fill up on water for free! Or, order any drink to refill at a water station.
BONUS: Arrive early for food + snacks
Nothing compares to the variety of food and drink options at The Orion for pre-show snacks or late night bites before the encore.
