Passenger traffic at Huntsville airport up from last year

Huntsville International Airport has received some good press lately, as it was recently named the Best Small Airport in the U.S. by Newsweek magazine. And with good reason.
This year, HSV has seen a consistently higher passenger volume compared to last year.

Choosing HSV over nearby airports
A recent poll we posted to LinkedIn last week asked which airport our readers used — giving Birmingham, Nashville and Huntsville as choices — and more than half of our audience said they prefer to fly our of HSV.
The growth of the Huntsville metro has also translated to more passengers in and out of HSV. Here’s the passenger total at HSV over the last three years:
- 2023: 1,473,629
- 2022: 1,201,105
- 2021: 940,830
Our recent Facebook poll asked what flights from HSV our audience would like to see added, and some of the more common suggestions included direct flights to San Francisco, Boston, New York and Seattle. But the most popular response was the addition of Southwest Airlines to the HSV roster.
Nashville is a Southwest hub and Birmingham offers Southwest flights, so the chances of Southwest coming to HSV are slim, but people can certainly hope. Here’s the poll below:
