U-Haul recently announced its plans to build a new retail, moving and self-storage center in Athens. It will be its first full facility in Athens, listed among less than 20 in the entire state. Read on for more details about this facility’s offerings.

What this U-Haul facility has to offer

This new location will be U-Haul’s first fully owned and operated facility in Athens, which already houses multiple dealer locations in a 20-mile radius. It is set to be located on 16298 Athens-Limestone Blvd.

The new facility will consist of three levels with 1,100 self-storage units overall, more than half of which will be climate controlled. It will also have a retail showroom with boxes, bike racks, towing accessories, moving tools and lots more adding to its facility.

“We are excited to be a new member of the Athens community. Prior to this center being built, the area has been served by local small businesses who make up the U-Haul Dealer Network. They’ve done a wonderful job because the demand for our products and services in Athens has grown.”

Brad Weston, U-Haul Company of Northern Alabama president

Customers will have access to moving trucks, trailers, towing devices, containers, professional hitch installation, propane refills + exchange, making it an ideal offering for an Athens moving center.

The North Alabama president plans on bringing on up to 14 employees. They are intent on exclusively hiring locally to inspire job growth in the Athens community, and are known for actively hiring veterans—named a Best for Vets company by the Military Times.

This facility will allow for more resources in the area, possibly allowing for a larger influx of residents, a great opportunity to grow the city more as North Alabama progresses.
