The University of Alabama in Huntsville’s men’s basketball team is enjoying a historic season, currently sitting at 24-1 and now ranked no. 3 in the country.

The UAH basketball team has remained in the NABC top five for six consecutive weeks and inside the top 25 for 14 straight weeks.

A big season for UAH basketball

A convincing 88-70 win over Union on Senior Night was the Chargers 24th straight win.

The Chargers rank at the top of the Gulf South Conference in both field goal percentage (51.7 percent) and opponent field goal percentage (41.3 percent). Nationally, UAH ranks second in effective field goal percentage (59.8 percent).

UAH will finish out the regular season with three straight road games, as the Chargers will face off with Auburn Montgomery on Thursday and a road trip to Montevallo on Saturday, followed by a regular season finale against West Alabama next week.

UAH basketball has had multiple 20+ win seasons — this season being the program’s 21st — but this season could surpass the team’s single-season records. Here are the most successful season for UAH basketball over the years:

  • 1980-81: 30-7
  • 2011-12: 29-4
  • 2010-11: 29-5
  • 2022-23: 27-8
  • 2016-17: 26-8
  • 1975-76: 26-9
  • 1982-83: 25-11
  • 1978-79: 24-7
  • 1979-80: 24-8
