UAH brings in a talented new assistant baseball coach

The University of Alabama in Huntsville announced on August 3 that the baseball team was adding Kevin Mitchell to its coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Mitchell has spent the last two seasons as Director of Pitching Development at Utah Valley, a Division I program that just moved into the Big West Conference. During his time there, he helped the team win a conference championship and advance to the NCAA tournament.
Prior to coaching at Utah Valley, he spent seven years coaching high school baseball, and even spent a few summers coaching in the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) where he won the 2023 Coach of the Year Award.
As a player, Kevin Mitchell attended Rowan College of South Jersey, even winning the 2013 NJCAA national title.

Looking ahead at the 2026-27 UAH baseball season
Last season, the UAH Chargers finished with a record of 21-24, and lost to Delta State in the first round of the Gulf Coast Conference Championship.
They will be looking back to bounce back in a big way in the coming season—hopefully, the hiring of an experienced coach like Kevin Mitchell will give the team an edge over the competition.
The schedule for the 2026-27 season hasn’t been released yet, but keep an eye on the UAH baseball team website so you can go support the Chargers when they start playing in late January/early February.
