UAH makes history, headed to Final Four

Getting out of the Elite 8 with a win wasn’t easy. The Chargers struggled offensively in the opening half, shooting just 6-of-28 from the field and 3-of-12 from three-point range, trailing 33-21 at the break.
After Cal Poly Pomona connected on five three-pointers in the first half, the Chargers shifted defensively and held the Broncos to zero made threes in the second half.
At the same time, UAH found its rhythm from deep, shooting 5-of-7 from beyond the arc in the third quarter to chip away at the deficit.
UAH took control in the fourth. Lili Wilken opened the period with a layup to cut the lead to five, before Chloe Siegel and Ivey Maddox knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to bring the Chargers within one.
With just over six minutes remaining, Siegel gave UAH its first lead since midway through the first quarter with a jumper in the paint. From there, the Chargers never trailed again, dominating the final period by outscoring Cal Poly Pomona 21-6.
With the win, UAH advances to face Grand Valley State, the reigning national champions, in the national semifinals. The Lakers advanced to the Final Four with a 96-48 victory over Carson-Newman.
Tipoff for Thursday’s matchup is scheduled for 7:30PM!
