UAH’s planned expansion “Exploration Plaza” (UAH)

The University of Alabama in Huntsville has had a new expansion in the works for nearly a decade. In 2017, the school purchased a 58-acre plot of land that sits between the school and MidCity.

The plan is to transform the now mostly empty land into “Exploration Plaza,” a state-of-the-art mixed-use space intended to strengthen campus culture and create a better environment for students.

School officials also believe the new space will enhance recruitment, satisfaction with the campus and bolster student and faculty success.

Recently, UAH received a big boost that will help move the plan forward, keep reading to find out more👇

UAH is set to receive $14.2 million dollars in federal funding which is directly tied to the development of Exploration Plaza. Senator Katie Britt and Rep. Dale Strong are those to thank for procuring the funds.

“UAH is extremely proud and very grateful to have the support of Senator Katie Britt and Rep. Dale Strong as we move forward with Exploration Plaza. Because of their leadership, UAH will be able to expand our campus and establish a dynamic innovation hub for our students, the high-tech workforce, and the greater Huntsville community.”

Charles L. Karr, Former UAH President

This extra funding could be exactly what the university needs to turn this dream into a reality. The students and faculty of UAH are certainly excited to see Exploration Plaza come to life!
