UNA + Samford to open 2026 football season at The Joe
Reading time: 2 minutes

The 2025 college football season just ended, but that doesn’t mean we cannot look ahead to the 2026 season, right? Well, one game to look forward to in this area this coming season will be right here in Huntsville, as North Alabama will take on Samford at Joe Davis Stadium.
The clash between the two in-state FCS schools will take place August 29.
UNA vs. Samford at Joe Davis Stadium

This upcoming matchup between the Lions and Bulldogs is the first time since 2002 that these two schools have faced each other. In that game, Samford won 24-21. At that point, UNA was still a Division II school.
The 2026 season will also be UNA’s first season to play on its new home field at Bank Independent Stadium. The Lions will play their first game in the newly constructed venue September 19 against Alcorn State.
Ticket details and kickoff time will be announced at a later date.
