I am going to get this out of the way first: I love Unclaimed Baggage in Scottsboro. Whether I buy anything there or not, just looking through all of the stuff and thinking, “This belonged to someone and they literally lost it at the airport” makes the trip to the store interesting enough.

Apparently I am not the only one who shares that sentiment, because Unclaimed Baggage is opening a new attraction at its Scottsboro location — The Unclaimed Baggage Museum. Here’s what we know:

The Unclaimed Baggage Museum is, as described in a statement released this week, “a curated collection showcasing the most unique and intriguing items unpacked from a suitcase.”

Unusual treasures discovered inside luggage over the store’s 50+ year history tell real stories about people and culture over time and from all parts of the world. The museum will display some of the most unique items the store owners ever unpacked.

The grand opening

The grand opening for the Unclaimed Baggage Museum is April 21 beginning at 11AM. Guests can hear from museum staff experts on the history behind the unique treasures discovered from lost luggage. The events includes a cake cutting and special treats and games as well.

The celebration continues Saturday, April 22, with food trucks, music, vendors, games, and guided tours of the Unclaimed Baggage Museum from 8AM to 7PM.
