Last Thursday, Florence native and UNA alum, Rob Rausch, won Peacock’s The Traitors. To win, Rob outlasted all 22 other competitors through charm and manipulation alike. His incredible gameplay won him the entire $220,800.

In the show’s four-season run, he is only the second solo player to do so. Throughout the season, Rob gained a lot of fans—and a few enemies onscreen.

Rausch, 27, a Florence native, made a name for himself before debuting on reality television through his social media presence and daring wildlife encounters.

He attended the University of North Alabama from 2017 to 2020, where he developed an immense passion for wildlife, particularly snakes. He shares his experiences wrangling reptiles on his TikTok, which has over 2 million followers.

Before starring on season four of The Traitors, Rob was a contestant on Love Island and visited the villa in seasons five and six. After failing to find lasting love on the island, Rob returned to television with a more snaky role.

What is “The Traitors”?

The Traitors is a competition where contestants complete missions and collect money, while secretly trying to identify and eliminate the traitors among them before they’re “killed” off.

Most of the cast is initially assigned the role of “faithful” and is tasked with discovering the traitors and avoiding the nightly “murders” and banishment votes.

Rob was established as a traitor in season four’s first episode, and successfully avoided all inklings of suspicion from faithful players throughout the season. He also worked directly to eliminate the majority of other cast members, including all four of his fellow traitors.

The season ended with the ultimate betrayal when Rob revealed he was a traitor to Maura Higgins, a fellow former Love Island contestant, cutting her out of a share of the prize pot.
