They say learning foreign languages is easier when you are younger — the famous “old dog/new tricks” adage — but actually, learning a new language as an adult may be easier than you think.

If you are an adult who wants to learn new languages, you may want to look into these options here in the Huntsville area:

OLLI at UAH

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Alabama in Huntsville offers a wide array of classes for people 50 and older, including foreign language classes.

OLLI offers different courses each term, but has consistently offered Spanish, French and German classes on its platform.

Yuwenbon Language Services

Yuwenbon has been the leading provider of Chinese language and culture education in North Alabama since it opened in 2005, and has since expanded its offerings to include:

  • Spanish
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Portuguese
  • French
  • Hebrew
  • American Sign Language

The Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind offers classes in American Sign Language every spring and fall semester, and often hosts condensed courses in the summer for a reduced fee.

LearningQuest

LearningQuest offers a variety of language courses, including Spanish for Travel and French for Travel.
