Get ready for a weekend of backyard BBQ, lively music and family fun at the 25th annual WhistleStop BBQ Festival!

Huntsville’s longtime BBQ competition returns October 16-17, 2026 at MidCity. A community favorite since 2001, backyard pitmasters and reigning champions alike will compete to see who has the best meats. Plus, you can sample pork + wings for free during select tasting hours to vote for your favs, and find more amazing BBQ from local vendors.

• What: WhistleStop is an annual BBQ festival + fundraiser hosted in Huntsville since 2001.
• When: Friday-Saturday, October 16-17, 2027
  • Friday: Gates at 4PM
  • Saturday: Gates at 11AM, awards ceremony at 5PM
• Where: MidCity District festival lot along Old Monrovia Rd
• Tickets:
  • Single day: $10 advance | $15 at the gate
  • Weekend Pass: $15 advance | $25 at the gate
  • Kids 12 + under: FREE

What can I expect at WhistleStop 2026?

Local BBQ + tastings in Sizzle Alley 🍗

Come hungry! Choose from a variety of food options available for purchase in Sizzle Alley.

All the while, grills will be ablaze for the community-favorite competition.

🏆 Amateur BBQ competition:

• 40 teams face off in a BBQ competition sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society
• Categories include ribs, chicken + dessert (registration for the dessert competition is open to the public!)
• $6,000 in cash prizes, with the Grand Champion taking home $2,000

🍴People’s Choice Tasting:

• Tickets include free tasting from vendors during select times while supplies last
  • Friday 6-7:30PM: People’s Choice WINGS tasting
  • Saturday 2-4PM: People’s Choice PULLED PORK tasting
• Patrons vote for their favorites via QR code for the People’s Choice awards

🥤 Fun fact: The ice-cold Pepsi + soft drinks you’ll enjoy at the festival were bottled in AL at Buffalo Rock!

• The local independent Pepsi bottler is based in Birmingham with a facility nearby in Madison
• Buffalo Rock is one of the festival’s sponsors + will be keeping you refreshed all weekend with drink stations

Why locals have loved this festival since 2001

WhistleStop has earned its reputation in the community for its 25 years of fundraising through live music and barbecue. The event is so loved that when it was once discontinued due to COVID, the community banded together to bring it back to life. For the last four years, it’s been hosted at MidCity and continues to grow.
