Jessica was leading a successful career in nursing in Huntsville but one day decided it was no longer the right fit for her.
Read on to learn about the flexible career she discovered at RealtySouth and how she’s helping local families love living in the Rocket City.
Growing up + coming back to Huntsville

Jessica moved to the Rocket City at the age of four with her family, but if you had asked her in high school if she would ever end up in Huntsville, she would’ve said, “Absolutely not.”
However, after moving off to go to the Alabama School of Fine Arts in Birmingham and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Jessica found her way back to Huntsville to attend nursing school at UAH.
She was pleasantly surprised to find out that she loved her hometown. She met her husband in Huntsville, and they decided to raise their kids here.
Now, you can find Jessica carting Hayes (6) and Sinclair (4) to all their favorite Huntsville spots—the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library, U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Big Spring Park (straight to the ducks!) and Earlyworks Children’s Museum.
Yet, she didn’t always have a career that was so flexible for family life—that was until an unexpected family situation put things in perspective.
From nursing to real estate

About a decade ago, Jessica’s dad was diagnosed with dementia, and her parents really needed a helping hand around the house.
At the time, Jessica was working as a pediatric nurse for a local practice and had little flexibility to shift around her schedule and help her parents. Simultaneously, Jessica was feeling the pull—the one she had felt for years—to pursue a career in real estate. She talked to her husband and decided to give it a shot.
She was licensed in 2017, which allowed her to help care for her father until his passing in 2020.
Since being licensed, Jessica has been able to work on real estate teams and as a managing broker. Most recently, she decided to take a step back from being a broker and join the team at RealtySouth.
“With having two kids and a husband who has a busy career, I decided that I needed a bit more flexibility. I didn’t have the bandwidth to manage clients and agents. RealtySouth has been a great fit for me, and I love working with Clair (the broker).”

Getting the support she needs from RealtySouth

With Huntsville being a popular relocation spot, Jessica often finds herself talking with folks in other states and convincing them that the Rocket City is the place they should call home.
That’s why she’s grateful that RealtySouth doesn’t leave its agents on an island, granting them plenty of resources to close the deal.
“One of the things that I love about RealtySouth is that there’s always someone available to answer any questions, whether it’s my broker here or someone in the corporate office in Birmingham. They’ve all been so kind and welcoming.
RealtySouth has lots of partners that I can recommend to clients. It’s great having options to give them that I’m comfortable with, knowing that they will uphold the brand and level of service I want for my clients.”

Helping families call Huntsville home

One of Jessica’s favorite parts about closing a deal is knowing that she’s connecting families with a place they will enjoy calling home.
“There’s so much more to do here for families than there was while I was growing up. With the development of MidCity, Town Madison, Clift Farm and more, there’s always something going on that’s family-friendly. Plus, a lot of times you can find things that are free to do!”

For Jessica, being a real estate agent is about more than the happy moments. It’s often the hard moments that remind her why she loves her career with RealtySouth.
“Honestly, the moments that I find the ‘this is why I do this’ are usually the moments that are not the happiest. Whether it’s helping someone move because of a divorce or a parent passing, those challenging moments are the most rewarding. That’s where you’re able to meet clients where they are and help them get to where they need to be.”
