The holidays have arrived in Huntsville, and there are so many fun activities to take advantage of around town. From taking pictures with Santa to finding the perfect Huntsville inspired gift, we know you’re looking for the best holiday activities this season.

Check out these 15 things happening in the Rocket City that will make your holiday jolly and bright.

1. 2023 Candlelight Christmas at Burritt on the Mountain

Candlelight Christmas is one of Burritt on the Mountain’s annual traditions. The event centers around traditional Christmas activities like:

  • Stringing cranberries and popcorn
  • Making paper punch ornaments
  • Decorating cookies
  • Creating handmade cards

Kris Kringle will make an appearance at 5PM, and hot toddies will be available for purchase along with complimentary refreshments.

2. “A Christmas Carol” at the VBC Playhouse

For the 33rd year, “A Christmas Carol” returns to the Huntsville stage presented by Fantasy Playhouse. This Christmas classic follows Ebenezer Scrooge through his journeys of Christmases past, present and future.

3. Yule Y’all at Lowe Mill

This 6th annual Christmas market and spirit tasting event will feature vendors and spirit distillers. Leashed pets are welcome to this event, and it will incude the lighting of the Lowe Mill water tower at 5PM.

4. 2023 Huntsville Christmas Parade

The 9th annual Huntsville Christmas Parade will celebrate Christmas through the decades this year. Over 80 floats, plus animals and marching bands, will walk. The parade will begin on Clinton Ave. near the post office and continue through downtown Huntsville. It will end near AM Booth’s Lumberyard.

5. Christmas Card Lane Walking Nights

Ditto Landing has dozens of Christmas events this year, but their Christmas Card Lane walking nights are a fan favorite. Stroll through to see 4′ by 8″ Christmas cards created by local businesses.

6. Greene Street Holiday Market

Greene Street Market is one of Huntsville’s most well-known markets, and they’re returning with a holiday twist. Shop for some festive and fresh local goods this season.

7. Holiday Pet Project at Pinot’s Palette

Paint a holiday portrait of your pet this year at Pinot’s Palette. After signing up, simply send in a photo of your pet. Your pooch’s portrait will be printed on a 16″x20″ canvas. Ages 9 and up are welcome to attend event, but hurry! You’ll have to sign up by November 30 to guarantee your spot.

8. iDrum Holiday Rhythms + Beats

Support Huntsville’s Community Drumline at their iDrum Holiday Rhythms and Beats performance. The show will also include interactive workshops and a silent auction.

9. 2nd Annual Mrs. Claus Snow Stroll at Stovehouse

Celebrate the women-owned small businesses at Stovehouse’s Gaslight Alley during the 2nd annual Mrs. Claus Snow Stroll. Snow machines will be on site at this family friendly event, and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance for pictures.

10. Holiday Events at Bridge Street

11. Galaxy of Lights at the Huntsville Botanical Garden

Nothing says the holidays are back in Huntsville quite like the Galaxy of Lights. The botanical garden light show was recently nominated for Best Botanical Garden Light Show in the country. Take a stroll through the show with friends or bring your furry friend on special pet nights. The drive through light show is also a great option for those chilly winter nights or for a light show lover with limited mobility.

12. Rocket City Christmas Light Show at Toyota Field

One million lights are on display at Toyota Field’s holiday light show themed “Santa’s Favorite Tales.” The drive through light show is synchronized to music so make sure you tune into 95.5FM for the full experience.

13. Winter Park at the Orion Amphitheater

There are so many activities to enjoy at the Orion’s Winter Park. Ice skating, Santa meet-and-greets, Christmas carolers, train rides and the holiday cinema series are certain to put you in a festive mood.

14. Miracle at MidCity

The Camp at MidCity has been transformed into a magical Christmas-themed bar. They offer unique daily food and drink specials, plus seasonal guests, like Santa Claus, will make appearances throughout the month.

The Tinsel Trail at Big Spring Park has officially opened downtown. See over 400 Christmas trees decorated by local businesses, organizations and families. This jolly celebration of Christmas in Huntsville is open day and night.
