We’re celebrating Black History Month this year by supporting Black locally-owned stores. These different 16 businesses bring unique products, services and cultural influence that help strengthen the greater Huntsville community.

1. Dapper Dude

This online store specializes in customized suits and offers a selection of the coolest lapel pins. An added plus is that customization isn’t limited to men’s suits; the owner, Derrick Ramey Jr., also creates women’s suits.

Fun Fact: Derrick Ramey Jr. custom-designed a suit for Grammy-nominated producer, Kelvin Wooten, to wear on the red carpet.

This women-owned business offers pieces for your everyday wardrobe. Once you leave the store with your new items, they want you to feel “Filthy Gorgeous.”

3. Huntsville Vintage LLC

Huntsville Vintage is a locally Black-owned business. This retail store buys, sells and trades collections of shirts, blazers, shoes and much more.

4. Southern Throne Boutique

Southern Throne Boutique has some of the cutest clothes I have seen, my favorite things are their earrings. Unfortunately, this store was hit during a big storm in Athens, so they are currently working as an online store until further notice.

Berry Delishes LLC offers an assortment of sweets, from their classic chocolate-dipped strawberries to indulgent chocolate-dipped pineapples and the most fun, their breakable hearts.

6. cUPcaKe BabY

Looking for your next sweet treat to take home? This locally-owned business specializes in pound cake and cinnamon rolls that look absolutely delicious.

7. JJ Treats

This sweet retreat has literally everything you can ask for: pies, cakes, snow cones and even sugar-free desserts! JJ’s Treats has such an amazing variety of items that it’s impossible not to get anything.

This online baker prepares the most delicious-looking cakes ever. Each of Dianne’s creations is a work of art that makes all of her clients’ celebrations unforgettable.

Are you looking to add to your art collection? Look no further, as Allisa’s magnificent artwork is the perfect piece for any place. Her current showing is SAVOR: A Celebration of Black Mental Health, Joy, & Resilience, which will be on display for the entire month of February.

Owner, Kaylah Joseph, has been hugely successful as she earned first place in “Beauty Supply Store Franchise Created in Retail Partnership with Walmart.” LAID Hair Care provides a variety of products ranging from hair extensions, wigs, scalp treatments and much more.

As the name implies, Mocktails for Mommy is a women-owned business based out of Huntsville, specializing in nonalcoholic wine. Her mocktail collections can be found in big chain retailers such as Kroger, Walmart and Target.
