2 new North Alabama road projects begin this week

The Alabama Department of Transportation will begin two road construction projects in North Alabama this week, with one extending well into the fall.
Projects in DeKalb and Lawrence counties will affect traffic in these areas while the projects are ongoing.

Where are these road projects?
Lawrence County
On Wednesday, August 26, ALDOT began work on the intersection of SR-157 and SR-36 in Lawrence County with striping and signs. The work will continue through Saturday, August 29.
The median crossover striping project will convert the intersection to two separate intersections for the northbound and southbound SR-157 roadways.
ALDOT said to expect temporary closure of the crossover while work is underway.
DeKalb County
Work also started this week on a resurfacing project on SR-168 in DeKalb County from the Marshall County line to SR-68 in Kilpatrick.
The contractor began patching Wednesday, August 26, in preparation for milling and paving the 2.3 mile stretch of two-lane highway. ALDOT anticipates completion of the $527,580 project in early fall.
ALDOT said to expect daily single-lane closures daily with traffic controlled by flaggers or a pilot vehicle.
