March means one thing for basketball fans all across America: it’s playoff time. The nerves may be raised for watchers at home, but the players on these two North Alabama teams are calm and composed.

Alabama A&M’s women’s basketball team has had a historic season and it’s all culminating now, as they have earned a bid to the WNIT.

The UAH women’s and men’s basketball teams are currently in the “Sweet Sixteen” round of the Division II Basketball Championship (despite the confusing name, this is an entire tournament, not a single game).

The Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M finished their season with a record of 22-10, including a dominant in-conference record of 17-1. This was a historic season for the school, although the team fell in the SWAC tournament final, which prevented an automatic bud to the NCAA tournament.

Their play this season earned them an invite to the WBIT, or Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament. The WNIT features some of the best women’s teams from across the country and is a tremendous honor to get invited to.

The opening round of the WNIT is March 19, so make sure you tune in while the Lady Bulldogs take on top seed BYU. All preliminary-round games will be streamed on ESPN+, while the semi-finals and championship will be streamed on ESPNU and ESPN2 respectively.

The women’s team plays Eckerd tonight at 7PM after wins against Edward Waters in the opening round Friday and Nova Southeastern on Saturday.

In the first round, the men’s team defeated Palm Beach Atlantic 92-73. In the second round, they beat West Alabama 83-74. Now, they are posed to play number 1 seed Nova Southeastern Tuesday, March 17. Games can be watched on the CBS Sports network or streamed from NCAA.com.
