Can you believe we’re just days away from October? I certainly can’t—but I do love the excitement of a new month and the (unofficial) kickoff of the holiday season.

Here are 23 October events you need to look forward to in Huntsville.

1. Pumpkin Patch at The Camp

Reed’s Farms is teaming up with The Camp for a pumpkin patch in the middle of town, featuring pumpkins, mums, fall decor and more. (And now I know where I’m finding my front porch decor this year.)

2. Raven Knights: All Hallow’s Eve

Calling all Huntsville goths! Start off the spookiest month of the year with an adults-only event at Dragon’s Forge Cafe. Cover is $5 and the event will feature underground, goth + industrial music, plus fun food and drink specials.

3. Madison Street Festival

The 40th Annual Madison Street Festival is happening this weekend. You’ll be able to shop at downtown Madison businesses, get great food and wares from local vendors, and support local education initiatives while you’re at it.

4. World Space Week at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center

Celebrate space with the ones who do it best—the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Head over the week of October 3-7 for a series of speakers presenting on the topic of “Space & Sustainability.” Get the full lineup.

5. Rocket City Pride Fest

Head to the Orion for a free pride event featuring entertainment all day, including drag queen Eureka O’Hara.

Vote for your favorite chalk art piece while enjoying great shopping, live music and more at Bridge Street this October. Local chalk artists will be competing to create the best piece of art on the Belk Courtyard—who will you vote for?

7. Bluegrass + BBQ Festival

South Huntsvillians, you don’t want to miss out on this free event at Southside Park. The entertainment lineup includes Three on a String, Another Town + Justin and Angelica Branum.

8. UNA v. Jacksonville State at Toyota Field

Baseball season may be over in Huntsville, but Toyota Field is far from done for the year—The place you know and love for Trash Pandas Baseball is currently being transformed to a football field. Head over later in October to watch the University of North Alabama Lions to take on the Jacksonville State Gamecocks.

9. Microwave Dave Day

Head to Stovehouse for a day full of local music courtesy of Microwave Dave, one of Huntsville’s favorite local musicians. All proceeds from the event benefit the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation, which works to bring music into local schools.

10. Records + Retro Market

Yellowhammer Brewing and Vertical House Records are teaming up to host a free market at the Orion for all the vinyl + vintage lovers. Plus, find live music and food trucks all day long.

11. Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll

History buffs, don’t miss your opportunity to take a stroll back in time at Huntsville’s famed Maple Hill Cemetery. The 2022 Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll allows you to walk through the 200-year-old cemetery alongside costumed characters, learning about Huntsville’s history as you go.

12. Haunted Mansion Dinner at Burritt

Dr. Burritt’s mansion on Monte Sano gets spooky for three nights this year, as guests are invited to experience a Haunted Mansion Dinner. The meal includes creepy selections like Witches Fingers (cheese straws), Ghost Focaccia Bread + Devil’s Food Cake.

13. HYP Nightmare on Church Street

Huntsville Young Professionals are hosting their annual Nightmare on Church Street event Friday, Oct. 21 this year, complete with food trucks, a DJ, party games and more. Can’t wait to see all your Halloween costumes!

14. Young Entrepreneur Market at the Vinyl Hub

It’s never too early to follow your entrepreneurial dreams. Support some of Huntsville’s youngest entrepreneurs at The Vinyl Hub this October, and find something handmade to bring home with you.

15. Beer + Wine Festival at Toyota Field

The fun at Toyota Field is year-round. Head over later in the month for a beer + wine festival, featuring local brewers, specialty cocktails and more.

16. Huntsville Havoc Meet the Team Party

Huntsville Havoc fans, here’s your chance to meet the team ahead of the 2022-2023 hockey season! Free food + drinks will be served—Study up on this year’s roster before you go.

17. Witches’ Day 2022

Lowe Mill’s makers will be dressed in their best witchy garb on Witches’ Day, a tradition started by a Lowe Mill staff member several years ago that has blossomed into a full-blown holiday. Don’t forget your broomstick!

18. Zombie Prom

Will you be the Zombie Prom King or Queen? There’s only one way to find out—by heading to the Electric Belle for Zombie Prom on October 28. Come dressed in your spookiest prom getup.

19. Apple Annie Day Carnival

Don’t miss Junior League Huntsville’s Apple Annie Day Carnival, a day full of family fun, prizes, and—of course—apple treats.

20. Murder Mystery Dinner Theater

It’s almost time for the Blue Melody Costume Ball—but something tells me this event won’t be without drama. Head to the Huntsville Marriott at the Space & Rocket Center in your best costume to uncover the mysteries of Spider City.

21. Blossomwood Witches’ Ride

Whether you ride or watch, the Blossomwood Witches’ Ride is sure to be a highlight of your Halloween season.

22. Railyard BBQ Brawl + Music Fest

Railyard is Madison’s only Kansas City Barbecue Society-certified event, and you don’t want to miss this chance to get great barbecue alongside your community. Yum.
