3 great scarecrow trails in the Huntsville area

While scarecrows are meant to keep birds and pests away from crops, human admirers are absolutely welcome at several great scarecrow trails around North Alabama.

Here are three spots for scarecrow lovers to catch before October ends.

Scarecrow Trail @ Huntsville Botanical Garden

Huntsville Botanical Garden’s annual FestiFall season makes it a go-to all season long, with newer events like the adults-only Spellbound evening experience joining longtime favorites like Little Monsters Mash and the Scarecrow Trail.

For the annual trail, local businesses, organizations and individuals go all out creating displays. Judges and guests vote for their favorites, and the garden recently announced winners on Facebook.

This year’s Scarecrow Trail at the garden remains open through Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026.

Scarecrow Stroll in Athens

There are dozens of scarecrow sightings over in Athens, where residents embrace the tradition of placing these harbingers of harvest time in their yards and in front of businesses through October.

Sponsored by the Athens Mayor’s Youth Commission, the Scarecrow Stroll encourages folks to explore and discover scarecrows at their own pace.

Scarecrows in the Park in Priceville

Through October, admire the many scarecrows on display for the Junior League of Morgan County’s annual Scarecrows in the Park trail at Veterans Park in Priceville.
