Quick guide to Spellbound at Huntsville Botanical Garden
What is Spellbound?

Spellbound is a 21+ nighttime experience at Huntsville Botanical Garden during the last two weeks of October that celebrates the whole vibe of fall from a mature perspective.
Think: moody lighting, eerie sounds, live performers and a cocktail in hand, strolling one of Huntsville’s prettiest places, after dark.
In one way, it’s about the pause this season allows us to reflect and relax in nature between the splashy fun (and heat) of summer and the be-everywhere expectations of the holidays. Digging deeper, it’s more about being outdoors and connecting with friends alongside plants and wildlife making their own preparations for winter.
“With Spellbound this year, we’re building on what guests loved with new scenes, performers and unexpected moments that invite you to slow down, embrace the mystery of the season and experience the Garden after dark in a whole new way.”
– Laura McPhail, Vice President of Communication and Guest Experience, Huntsville Botanical Garden
What to do at Spellbound?

Spellbound offers a rare opportunity to experience how Huntsville Botanical Garden comes alive after dark in autumn, curated for the season. You’ll find it’s absolutely different from the dazzling illumination of the holiday spectacular Galaxy of Lights, and that’s on purpose—just as the seasons themselves are so distinct.
Here’s what you can expect at Spellbound:
- ✨ Theatrical lighting, sounds, scenes + special effects offering otherworldly touches along Garden pathways
- 🧝♀️ Live performers adding mystery + intrigue, some with hints of spookiness (no jump-scares, thank you!)
- 🎃 Lovely traditional fall arrangements with pumpkins, hay bales + mums for socializing + photo ops
- 🥃 Special seasonal cocktails, beer, wine + non-spirited beverages + concessions available to purchase (hello, s’mores kits!)
The idea is to take a beat, wander the Garden at your own pace, gather ’round cozy fire pits, make s’mores, sip drinks and socialize with friends, all while appreciating the quiet comfort of the season.
