The FIFA World Cup is arguably the most popular sporting event in the world — with more viewers worldwide than any sporting event outside the Olympics — and a larger-than-usual U.S. television audience is expected for this year’s World Cup, since the U.S. National Team is in the hunt.

And, of course, Huntsville is a great soccer town, evidenced by the early support of the Huntsville City Football Club, which begins play next year.

So, where is the best place to catch World Cup action in Huntsville? Glad you asked:

Huntsville Block Party

This World Cup party should be tons of fun! (Timberlake & League)

The law firm of Timberlake and League is sponsoring a 2-day Huntsville Block Party in Downtown Huntsville November 25 and 26 to watch the England vs. USA and Argentina vs. Mexico games World Cup matches.

Here are the details:

  • The Huntsville Block Party takes place Nov. 25 -26 from 12PM – 5PM each day.
  • Timberlake & League is closing down the firm’s block on 125 Holmes Avenue and broadcasting the games on a giant screen in the street.
  • Everyone is encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to make themselves comfortable as they watch the games.

The Poppy & Parliament

Is there a more fitting atmosphere in which to watch soccer than an English pub? Well you can do that in Huntsville at the Poppy & Parliament, located at 117 North Side Square.

They have a true pub atmosphere and some darn good food and cocktails as well!

Fractal Brewing

The preferred spot to watch soccer games in Huntsville for one particular group of soccer enthusiasts is Fractal Brewing located at 3200 Leeman Ferry Road.

The American Outlaws, a non-profit group dedicated to organize support for the men’s, women’s, and youth US soccer teams, has a Huntsville chapter and those folks will be gathered at Fractal Brewing. And I feel like watching the games with this group might be a heck of a lot of fun!

One of my favorite places in the area to watch any sporting event is Jonathan’s Grille in Madison. And if watching American football at Jonathan’s is fun, then certainly watching soccer — or rather, football — is a blast as well.

Jonathan’s is located at 8184 Hwy 72 W in Clift Farms.
