Long weekend, but not long enough to travel out of town? Keep reading for a list of fun activities to enjoy a staycation in Huntsville this Labor Day Weekend:
Be a tourist in your own city

Take yourself (and a friend) to go tour all the major iconic spots in Huntsville! Even as a native, there are a few I know I’ve yet to go see.
- U.S. Space & Rocket Center: the top paid tourist attraction in the state according to Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau, this is the place that you think of when you describe Huntsville’s unique space culture.

- Huntsville Museum of Art: Reopening on August 31 after a summer of renovations, this beloved museum is great for kids, date night or simply to enjoy beautiful works.

- Hours:Â Sunday 12PM- 5PM, Tuesday-Saturday 10AM-5PM + Thursdays open later to 8PM for $5 after 5PM night.

- U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum: “Where everyday is Veteran’s Day”, this museum honors the rich history of our veterans.

Get outside

Take advantage of the beautiful weekend weather by getting outside! It’s not too hot, not too cold, all you need a light jacket.
- Blevins Gap Trailhead: catch a sunset by this classic overlook spot on the mountain. Don’t forget to bring a blanket to sit on (or cuddle up with).

- North Alabama Japanese Garden: Located inside Monte Sano, this Japanese Garden is a short trek from the parking lot and boasts an impressive Tea House.

- Tennessee River Greenway: this paved walkway at Ditto Landing is a little under a mile and takes you from Ditto to Madison County Marina.

- Rainbow Mountain Preserve: Head out to Madison to enjoy nine different trails without having to drive out of the city!

Start on the fall bucket list

- Scott’s Orchard: It’s not yet pumpkin patch time, but you can pick your own apples at this orchard + get a taste of their apple cider.
- Where:Â 2163 Scott Rd, Hazel Green, AL 35750
- Hours:Â Monday-Saturday 8AM-5PM + Sunday 1PM-5PM

- College Football: This weekend is the kickoff of college football season, interchangeable with “Fall” if you’ve lived in the South long enough. Here’s whats on:
